AROUND FOR BOLIVIA: WHAT IS THE BEST MEANS OF TRANSPORT?

in #travel8 years ago

Bolivia is not a big country in size. However, the distance between major cities and the most famous tourist attractions is great. For example, Santa Cruz de La Sierra, one of the main air routes from Brazil to Bolivia, is 850km from the capital La Paz. La Paz is over 500km from the town of Uyuni, the Salar the gateway of Uyuni, and almost 4 hours away from the famous Lake Titicaca.

So it is good to prepare an entire logistics to be able to reach the main attractions. And to make matters worse, keep in mind that the land displacement is suffered and time consuming. In many places there is no paved road, traffic jams are frequent, the signage is poor and many drivers have a reputation for crazy. Not to mention the traffic laws there are not strict. Many vehicles - including taxis, vans and buses - do not even have seat belts in good condition for use.

Given these less than ideal conditions, the plane shift seemed to us the best option, although more expensive. However, the reports that we saw on the internet were not encouraging.

Still, we chose to go by plane. Among agitate on the bus for 10 hours to make the passage from La Paz to Uyuni, we prefer to agitate on the plane for only 1 hour.

In Bolivia there are two major airlines: BoA - Boliviana de Aviación and Amaszonas.

We chose Boliviana de Aviación, because he had the best time and price when searched. We made the following excerpts:

  • Santa Cruz De La Sierra - La Paz
  • La Paz - Uyuni
  • Uyuni - Santa Cruz De La Sierra, with connection in La Paz.

I confess that when we boarded, we were willing to face a "teco teco" of the air. We imagine the worst. To our joy, we had a great surprise! The aircraft were new, modern and comfortable. It was not a teco teco !!

A negative aspect is the fact that this value can not be divided on the card must be at once. Still, we think it was well worth it, especially because we optimize our time, avoiding tedious hours "bumping" in the Bolivian roads. Moreover, even just from the plane window to catch sight of the Salar of Uyuni and the immensity pass close the range. The view of the Bolivian landscapes out the airplane window is in-Cri-ble!

Thanks for sharing, the photos from the plane's window are incredible. That alone makes me want to visit Uyuni!
