Travelling the USA west coast Part 1: San Francisco (bilingual English/German)

In this part of my travel blog, I will share my impressions travelling along the USA west coast with you. In 2001 was my first visit to the USA and I fell in love with the cities and the nature of California. Since then I’ve been there 7 times. To start with I will take you to San Francisco one of most beautiful places to live in the USA. It is one of my favorite destinations to start a roundtrip and when I get there I always have to visit Fisherman’s Warf.
In diesem Teil meines Reise-Blogs, möchte ich einige Eindrücke von meinen Reisen entlang der USA Westküste mit euch teilen. Im Jahr 2001 war mein erster Besuch in den USA, und ich habe mich sofort in die Städte und die Natur Kaliforniens verliebt. Seitdem war ich noch 7-mal dort. Zu Beginn möchte ich euch mit nach San Francisco einen der schönsten Orte leben in den USA mitnehmen. San Francisco ist eines meiner bevorzugten Ziele, um eine Rundreise zu starten und wenn ich dort bin muss ich immer am Fischerman‘s Warf vorbeischauen. The Bushman and the Sea Lions/ Der Buschmann und die Seelöwen

If you are at Fisherman’s Warf and walk along the walkway watch out for trash cans with bushes. The first time I was there I thought “Oh nice they decorated the can”. But no. A man was hiding himself behind the branches to scare me while walking along. And he did and all the people crowding on the other side of the street to watch, were laughing and rewarding the “Bushman” afterwards. I have been there more times than ones as one of the guys one the other side and it was always the same guy behind the bush. Wenn Sie am Fischerman‘s Warf und zu Fuß die Promenade entlang gehen achten Sie auf die Mülleimer mit Büschen davor. Das erste Mal war ich dort und dachte ich: "Oh schön sie haben die Eimer verziert". Aber nein. Ein Mann hatte sich hinter den Zweigen versteckt, um mich zu erschrecken während ich dort vorbeiging. Und erschreckt hat er mich und alle Leute auf der anderen Seite der Straße die sich dort versammelt hatten, um zu dem „Bushman“ zu zuschauen waren am Lachen und gaben ihm anschließend ein Trinkgeld. Ich habe es mehrmals gesehen dann aber als einer derjenigen auf der anderen Seite und war es immer der gleiche Typ hinter dem Busch. Einen Dollar zu machen ist nicht einfach und manchmal muss man kreativ sein ...

Being at Fisherman’s Warf you have to visit Pier 23 and the sea lions as well. Wenn man Fisherman’s Warf besucht darf man einen Abstecher zum Pier 23 und den Seelöwen nicht auslassen.

At Fisherman’s Warf you can book a trip to Alcatraz and with a very interesting audio guided tour about the history of the island and the jail and even of its most famous inmates. Vom Fisherman’s Warf aus kann man Touren nac Alcatraz mit einem sehr interessanten Audio-Guide zur Geschichte der Insel, des Gefängnisses und der berühmtesten Insassen buchen.

At the other end of Fisherman’ Warf you will find the starting point of the world’s famous cable car of San Francisco. Am anderen Ende von Fisherman’s Warf befindet sich der Startpunkt der weltberühmten Cable Car.

Driving through the streets of San Francisco

Driving through the streets of San Francisco is an experience you have make on your own. Sometimes the only thing you can see at a crossroad is the sky. But keep your eyes open while driving you may come a long a lot of interesting spots to take closer look. One of them is Alamo Square and the Painted Ladies (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Painted_Ladies).
Autofahren in den Straßen von San Francisco ist ein Erlebnis, das man auf eigene Faust machen muss. Manchmal ist das einzige, was man an einer Kreuzung sehen kann der Himmel. Aber es lohnt sich die Augen offen zu halten da man an vielen interessante Ecken vorbeikommt bei denen sich ein lohnt einen genaueren Blick zu werfen. There are a lot more interesting places to visit in San Francisco and maybe I will write a second part but for the next time I’m planning to write something about the landscape north or SF. In San Francisco gibt es noch viel mehr interessante Orte die man besuchen kann und vielleicht werde ich eine 2. Teil schreiben aber für nächstes Mal plane ich etwas über die Landschaft im Teil nördlich von SF.
