Kurt the Travelpug #2 : Provence + VIDEO Special

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Hi everyone! It has been some time since my last episode and we had a long winter in germany. Despite this, my Human#1 seems to have trouble uploading my content in reasonable time. But to equalize this, we now do have some air footage, too! See video at the end.

Now, winter is finally over and we headed for a 1 week trip to the provence in the south of france!

Note: I had to reupload the post because there was a typo in the main tag.

Journey to the Provence

As always we started our journey in cologne. The total course was about 1.100 km and unlike last time, we managed to beat the track without any damaged tires *Cheers*. The plan was first to visit the verdon canyon. After that we headed deeper into the provence to Roussilion. Third destination was the city Avignon and last, we headed to the mediterranean sea.

Because we had time, we planned a stop around ~400km from the destination at the foothills of the alps.

And it was totally worth it. We arrived at our parking stop at night and got the following view the next morning

The other guests on the parking lot weren't THAT exited. I guess they have been here for a while. I was glad my Human#1 and Human#2 did not see this one when we decided to stay.

Verdon Canyon

Verdon canyon is the deepest canyon in europe. The internet says that the french call it "french grand canyon". Despite the fact that it is not nearly as deep as the grand canyon it is nevertheless stunning. The VERY turquoise water from the river verdon makes the lake a unique sight. Oh and did I metion that our camping spot was directly at the lake?
Unfortunatelly, unlike in portugal where it is rather okay to camp wherever you want, in france we are forced to use public campingsights.

I had to stay inside - stupid street.

1 week before the boat rental opens. Great for taking pictures - But I would have loved to make a boat trip.

Rousslion

Next stop was Rousslion - famous for its red ochre cliffs. A short but impressive stop.

No drone flying allowed.

Avignon

Avignon is famous for one of its bridges. What makes this bridge special is, that it is not really a bridge. Its half a brige - or 2/3 maybe - pugs are not good at guessing. Oh, and the bridge also has got a chapel on it. I guess that also contributes to his fame - what do I know?
Besides this part of a bridge, Avignon hosted the popes from  1309 to 1377. It was something like vatican city today. Thinking of vatican - I wonder if my Humans want to visit rome some day. Would love to  pee on the colosseum...

Mediterranean sea - Cassis

At last, we reached our main goal: The city of Cassis at the coast of the mediterranean sea. We stayed a couple of days there because this whole region is fantastic. We could have spend weeks there exploring the coast.

On our first day, I finally got the change to catch up on the boat tour we missed in Verdon.

Conclusion

After having spent one week in the provence, all I can say is that we have to come back. One the one hand Verdon and the sea were total highlights in terms of nature but on the other: The cities are all very interesting and you can spend hours just roaming the streets.

This region is so full of enjoyable things to explore - one week just is not enough to see it all.

Bonus - Videosummary

For the first time my Human#1 tried out his new drone toy and insists of showing the video he made - for me, this thing is just noisy and strange.

Tell us what you think of it in the comments.

Human#1 didn't make it to embed the dtube video in the post. We would appreciate if anyone knows how this works. Here is the link to the video

You have a minor misspelling in the following sentence:

Unfortunatelly, unlike in portugal where it is rather okay to camp whereever you want, in france we are forced to use public campingsights.
It should be wherever instead of whereever.

Thank you grammarnazi. Appreciate it, corrected it
