Must see in Italy #3: MilansteemCreated with Sketch.

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Milan is the second largest city in Italy and also its fashion capital, hosting the Fashion Week twice per year. Milan is perfect for fashion, food and architecture lovers. But what if you have limited time to spend in Milan? Here’s what you can do to enjoy the city to the max!

The Duomo

You must check out the Duomo di Milano. The cathedral, which took nearly six centuries to complete, dominates the Piazza del Duomo with its grandiose Italian Gothic architecture. Expect a lot of tourists and pigeons, as well as people trying to sell you pigeon food. You can also go inside the cathedral and get a gorgeous view of Milan. When you are back down in the Piazza del Duomo, make sure you’re taking lots of photos in front of the Duomo.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is really close to the Dome. It is one of the world’s oldest shopping centers, hosted inside a glass-vaulted double arcade. The Galleria is named after Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of the Kingdom of Italy. It is a must see for tourists in Milan – gorgeous inside and perfect for fashion luxury shopping! This will be also full of tourists so make sure you manage to wait or the right time to snap some nice photos.

Eat Ice Cream

I think that going to Italy actually means eating tons of ice cream ( and pizza and pasta etc). So it’s pretty obvious that I went for a big hazelnut ice cream in a cone. I was recommendes to check out the Riva Reno Gelateria. They have the creamiest, softest and most delicious ice cream. What I also loved was the temperature of the ice cream, perfect for eating and with no pieces of frozen ice cream inside. Overwhelmed by the choice, I went for a hazelnut ice cream. Yummy!

Navigli

While enjoying your ice cream, you can walk along the Navigli, Milan’s canals. If you happen to be there on a Saturday morning, you can stroll through the market. Be aware that there are quite a lot of water bugs around there though!

What else would you recommend doing and seeing in Milan?
