Tokyo International Airport (HND)

Tokyo International Airport, commonly known as Haneda Airport, Tokyo Haneda Airport, and Haneda International Airport, is one of the two primary airports that serve the Greater Tokyo Area, and is the primary base of Japan's two major domestic airlines. It is located in Ōta, Tokyo, 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) south of Tokyo Station.

Tokyo International lies on the Japanese island of Honshu and is well linked to central Tokyo by road, rail and monorail links. HND was the original international airport serving Tokyo, but now a majority of international flights arrive and depart at the newer Narita Airport. Despite the lack of international flights, however, it still remains the busiest airport in Japan.

Tokyo International Airport is a much smaller airport than you would believe! The two domestic terminals bulk the airport out. The international terminal is however, rather small. Because of this it is well worth minimizing your waiting time here, especially with connecting flights. Unless you have checked-in there is very little to do or choice of food and drink. Post security things are far better though, yet still limited.

Very kindly Haneda airport does provide a good quality free WiFi service. So provided you are carrying a laptop you can easily get on with some work or entertain yourself.

Very well organized and spacious airport. Immigration area well staffed to assist travelers in figuring out which line to join upon arrival. Luggage retrieval was quick and efficient. Customs was uneventful after responding to a few questions. Domestic transfers are facilitated by bus or train with luggage check-in counters conveniently located.
