Holiday Travel made better
Hello Steemians,
Sean here with an idea. I know many of you are traveling over the holidays. Maybe you're flying, preparing for long lines and baggage fees and the typical "hurry up and wait" of modern airport experiences. Hopefully reading this post will save you time and money.
If you are flying American Airlines here is a fantastic (and free!) deal going on right now. American Airlines is in the One World airline alliance. As an alliance member they do things like recognize frequent flyers from other member airlines.
There is another One World airline, airberlin, that is currently having a promotion and offering four months of topbonus Silver status just for joining their frequent flier program.

airberlin topbonus Silver gives you One World "Ruby" status. If you use your new airberlin frequent flyer number with your American Airlines booking, you are conferred alliance benefits like free checked bags and Priority Privileges

If you already have a booking, first join the airberlin topbonus program using the link above (yes the page is in German, use a web translator if needed). Then call American Airlines, 800-433-7300, use your reservation number to find your reservation and ask them to add your airberlin topbonus frequent flier number to the reservation.
Boom! Now you have a free baggage allowance and Priority Service. Time and money saved. That's what's up!
The four months of status from this promotion will cover any Thanksgiving and Holiday/NYE travel. airberlin has already set a date of November 30th for this signup to end, but this offer could get pulled at anytime so I recommend doing this asap if you think this could be useful.
*** if this post gets a lot of attention, I am going to run a small contest later this week. I have one SAS Eurobonus Silver membership to give away, good for 27 months. SAS Silver status will get similar benefits on Star Alliance airlines like United and Lufthansa ***
100% Power UP post
Thank you, Sean! I've been a topbonus customer of AirBerlin for years now. Is there any way I could benefit from their current promo campaign? I'll appreciate any advice from you!
Hi Oleg, this "free status" promotion is only for new accounts. So my advice is to create a new account, wait a few weeks and then call their customer service center and ask to merge accounts so that you can BOTH save your existing miles in one account AND keep the status. Their number from Sweden is: 0770 93 07 37
Thank you, Sean! You ARE a real ninja of bonus miles, loyalty programmes, and promo campaigns! ;)
I forgot to mention, One World Ruby status will be useful for any One World alliance airline, not just American Airlines. If you're flying any of the other airlines this holiday season this is useful
