Tragedy and Chance in Demolished Yeongkook-sa Temple Place of Seoul, Korea

In this posting, I’d like to introduce you the various kinds of the plates and the table wares used in Yeongkook-sa temple. All those relics were found unharmed under the ground.
It was said that those relics were buried under the ground wrapped with the thick clothes.

Thanks to the protection with the thick clothes, almost of the relics could maintain perfect appearance enduring such a long time under the ground.

The relics were well arranged and displayed as below

There were lots of table wares for dinning and tea.
Especially I could see many tea wares among the wares.

Some wares seemed to have been used in the ceremony.

In the corner, there was a buddhist bell. The bell was very impressive, because it was carved so delicately. It was a half feet size of the bell. But it has all components for the buddhist bell.
It must've been used indoors.

I thought some monks buried those relics in hurry. It seemed that something was happen in that temple.
The monks who had buried those relics might have been dead. If the monks were not dead, the relics could not have slept for such a long time under the ground.

I was worried about the fate of that monk, while looking around the relics.
Did he survived during those political disorder ?
Maybe not.

So we could excavate and look those relics now.
It must've been tragedy for the monk, but it was a chance for us to preserve the relics of Goryeo dynasty.
