Return to GR 131 (Day 1) / Návrat na GR 131 (Den 1)

After landing at the airport and picking up our backpacks, we step in front of the hall. It was warm, around 20 degrees. Quite a difference from Zurich where it was at zero. We were picked up by a friend who has lived here for several years with his old Citroen. Along the way he stopped at a grocery store and we buy some and of course beer. When a colleague brought 10 cold beers on the cash register, saying if they have more chilled beers. The lady on the cash register was looking quite dismayed. We paid and headed for the desert, where a friend and his girlfriend lived in a caravan.

Po přistání na letišti a vyzvednutí batohů jsme vylezli před halu. Bylo teplo, kolem 20 stupňů. Docela rozdíl oproti Curychu kde bylo na nule. Vyzvedl nás kamarád, který zde žije několik let svým starým Citroenem. Cestou nám zastavil v obchodě pro nějaké potraviny a samozřejmě pivo. Když si kolega přinesl na kasu 10 studených piv se slovy zda nemají více chlazených piv. Paní na kase koukala dosti zděšeně. Zaplatili jsme a vyrazily směr poušť, kde kamarád se svojí přítelkyní žili v karavanu.

There was another couple on the spot, and to my surprise my colleague knew them. And there was a planned birthday party. We stayed in bungalows made of pallets and palm leaves served as a roof. I absolutely did not expect us to sleep on the bed first night. My friend had a new power unit and a television set. So the plan was to set up the antenna. The highest point was the caravan and so my friend and colleague headed to the roof and when they were there so they saw the surrounding desert.

Na místě byl i další pár a k mému překvapení můj kolega se s nimi znal. A navíc zde byla plánovaná oslava narozenin. Ubytovali jsme se v chatičkách udělaných z palet a jako střecha sloužilo palmové listí. Absolutně jsem nečekal že hned první noc budeme spát na posteli. Kamarád měl nový agregát a televizi, takže plán byl nastavit anténu. Nejvyšší bod byl karavan a tak se kamarád a kolega vydali na střechu a když už tam byli tak si prohlédli okolní poušť.

During the day, other people from the Czech Republic, who live here on the island, began to appear on the spot. In the end it was quite a party. Meat and vegetables were grilled, beer was drunk and Czech was mostly spoken. Which was badly borne by a girlfriend of my friend who does not speek Czech, because she is originally from Greece. I fell away quite early because I was awake for over 24 hours.

V průběhu dne se začali na místě objevovat další lidé původem z České republiky, kteří zde na ostrově žijí. Nakonec z toho byla poměrně velká party. Grilovalo se maso i zelenina, pilo se pivo a mluvilo se převážně česky. Což těžce nesla přítelkyně kamaráda, která čeky moc neumí, protože je původem z Řecka. Já jsem odpadl poměrně brzy, protože jsem byl vzhůru přes 24 hodin.

The next morning I got up early. Even before sunrise and I decided to go take pictures. But I did not know where, because I did not explore the terrain the previous day. On the map I found a small beach about 2 km away and started on the shortest route. It was a mistake. There are prickly plants everywhere in the surrounding desert. So I took the shortest route to the route I saw on the map, hoping the route would be there. Luckily she was here and led me to the beach.

Další ráno jsem vstal brzy. Ještě před východem slunce a rozhodl jsem se jít fotit. Ale nevěděl jsem kam, protože jsem si neprozkoumal terén předchozí den. Na mapě jsem si našel malou pláž vzdálenou asi 2 km a vyrazil nejkratší cestou. Byla to chyba. V okolní poušti jsou všude samé pichlavé rostliny. Tak jsem se vydal nejkratší cestou k cestě co jsem viděl v mapě a doufal že tam ta cesta bude. Naštěstí zde byla a dovedla mě k pláži.

I was sitting on the beach listening to the murmur of the sea, waiting for more light to start looking for compositions. As the dawn began, I saw pictures everywhere. So I went from place to place and took pictures. Some of them were average, but there are some interesting ones.

Seděl jsem na pláži a poslouchal šumění moře a čekal až začne být více světla, abych mohl začít hledat nějaké kompozice. Jakmile se začalo rozednívat, viděl jsem fotky všude. Tak jsem chodil z místa na místo a fotil. Některé z nich byli průměrné, ale najde se i pár zajímavých.

When the light became sharp and contrasting, I go back to place where we lived. On the spot I was greeted in Czech by unknown people, but they knew about me. I found out they were other Czechs who came to celebrate birthday in the evening.

Když začalo být světlo ostré a kontrastní vyrazil jsem zpět k místu kde jsme bydleli. Na místě jsem byl pozdraven v češtině od neznámých lidí , ale evidentně o mě věděli. zjistil jsem že to byli další Češi co večer přišli na oslavu narozenin.
