Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 The Land of a Thousand Smile - Das Land der Tausend Lächeln

There's no other way. When you come to Sri Lanka, you get a smile. Whether you like it or not. We appreciate the friendliness in Southeast Asia. We never thought Sri Lanka would put another one on top of it.

You'll be smiled at in every corner, in every restaurant, in every bus. Even a passing Tuk Tuk Tuk, someone calls out and waves at us. I pulled the camera so fast from Ultra to catch it this moment. Good thing I already had the camera on.

What helps against problems?
A smile! Even if you do something wrong, give people a smile. Also the Tuk Tuk Tuk driver, who will ask at every corner the questions whether you want to ride with them. Give them a smile and they'll smile back at you. So he knows that you don't want one and he laughs with you.

Why did you forget laughter in the West?
Honestly? I don't know, sir. But what I do know is that people in the West never laugh as much as they do here. That's for sure. Maybe we were like that before the whole consumption frenzy started and turned our hearts to stone? Who knows...?

Everybody can ask himself the question and maybe one of them will recognize the answer to it.

Es geht nicht anders. Kommst du nach Sri Lanka, wirst du angelächelt. Ob du willst oder nicht. Die Freundlichkeit in Südostasien schätzen wir sehr. Nie hätten wie gedacht, dass Sri Lanka da noch einen oben drauf setzt.

An jeder Ecke, in jedem Restaurant, in jedem Bus wirst du angelächelt. Sogar ein vorbeifahrendes Tuk Tuk, ruft jemand heraus und winkt uns zu. Ich hab sowas von Ultra schnell die Kamera gezückt, um es noch diesen Moment festzuhalten. Gut dass ich die Kamera da schon an hatte.

Was hilft gegen Probleme?
Ein Lächeln! Selbst falls du etwas falsch machst, schenke den Leuten ein Lächeln. Auch der Tuk Tuk Fahrer, die an jeder Ecke die Fragen, ob du mit ihnen fahren möchtest. Schenke ihnen ein Lächeln und sie lächeln dir zurück. Somit weiß er, dass du keines möchtest und er lacht mit dir mit.

Warum haben das Lachen im Westen verlernt?
Ehrlich? Ich weiß es nicht. Was ich aber weiß, dass im Westen nie so viel gelacht wird wie hier. Das steht fest. Waren wir vielleicht auch so, bevor der ganze Konsumrausch angefangen hat und unsere Herzen versteinern ließ? Wer weiß....

Die Frage kann sich jeder selbst stellen und vielleicht erkennt einer die Antwort darauf
