Catching up on tourism, quick trip to La Plata. Part II.

in #travel6 years ago
A couple of weeks ago I went to La Plata with some friends, in order to get away from the busy life of the city. Getting some fresh air is always important, even though this time it wasn't a natural paradise as a mountain or a beach (places I used to visit), it worked for the purpose. I posted the first part of this trip with some photos I made using my smartphone and promised to showed you the "more incredible" photos I made with my camera as as soon as I was able to download them from the SD card, well I did.

Here you can check the first part of this trip.

La Plata is just one hour away trip from Buenos Aires, as I said Our first stop was the huge cathedral of La Plata. It’s actually considered one of the highest of the world with with an area of 5,300 m² and a couple of 112 m² towers in the outside. It has a very remarkable gothic style, but quite special.. Its facade is made of bricks. It’s located in the highest point of a square, that was really crowed by the way, so it’s quite hard to miss this beauty from the eye.

Inside the softness of its details is delightful.

The light gave me a hard time here, I still have no idea
of how to manage the exposure in this conditions.

These photos are pretty much the same ones I posted in the first part, the difference is the quality and the angles I was able to get using the camera. According to the legend, the city of La Plata was designed by Freemasons who, in addition to leaving objects implicit in the urban fabric (such as the square), also put their brand against the church right in the Moreno Square (Plaza Moreno). Logically, they are stories that can not be proven, only conjectures that make the city of the diagonals an even more interesting place.

Neogothic is such an elegant style.

These photos don't relate to the story BUT it keeps a little bit of mistery in them..

Let's continue with this conspiracy theory.. An investigation makes a racconto of the less known history of the capital of the Province of Buenos Aires. From doubts about the author of the original layout, to stories of Freemasons, Nazis and ghosts in the city that was conceived to be the most modern capital of the province of Buenos Aires, was a planned city and has a history that can be accurately counted from the first day of its foundation. For some reason people call it "the city without childhood". Founded in 1882 from a project by Governor Dardo Rocha, it grew rapidly with beautiful buildings, wide streets, large parks, and its famous diagonals, for which it also receives the name of the "City of the Diagonals".

Yes, these are the plans of the city.

Now back to subject.. This cathedral has a misterious air that captivated me. Maybe the stories about the city are just that.. stories; but they definitely had something to do with this place. Just to remind it: the cathedral is located just in the center of the city.

What secrets are hidden between these columns?

I freaked out as soon as I realized this resembles the plans of the city.
