The day I met Pablo Escobar's Brother in Colombia!
So the first thing that struck me when I arrived in Medellin, Colombia was how beautiful the city was. The metropolitan area of Medellín lies within the Aburra valley so as you are descending down the valley to reach the main city your ears start popping as its quite a decent, but a very pleasurable one as the views are amazing.
Once in the city we arrived at our apartment which was inside a newly build very modern multi-storey apartment building a stones throw away from the city centre.
Can't complain about the infinity pool or the views from the rooftop!
We booked a Pablo Escobar tour online and the following morning our tour guide picked us up in his car. As he drove us around the city of Medellin he was telling us all about Pablo Escobar and his impact on Medellin. He told us that most of the city despises him for the destruction he has caused but the people in the favelas still admire him because of all of the work that he did to make the favelas better.
He drove us to the favela and the admiration for Escobar was evident:
Our tour guide then drove us to the building where Escobar was killed. The story goes that he had a shootout with the police at the top of this building where he was eventually trapped and shot dead by the police. However, many people believe (including our tour guide) that once trapped on top of the building knowing that there was nowhere to run Escobar shot himself instead of being caught.
This is the building where Escobar had a shootout with the police which ended with his death. Today it is a brothel, one of over 200 in Medellin alone!
The next destination was Escobar's burial site. The graveyard was on top of a hill overlooking the city, the views were of course amazing. As we approached his burial site we found what looked like a very small bag of coke, my friend suggested we do a line on Escobar's tomb stone! But we weren't rebel enough to do it!

So the final destination was a stop at Pablo Escobar's brother's house, Roberto Escobar.
Roberto Escobar coming out to greet us
As we pulled into the driveway Roberto came out to greet us. Our tour guide explained to us that he was partially blind and deaf due to a letter bomb blowing up in his face from a failed assassination attempt years ago.
His house was filled with his brothers memorabilia, such as cars, motorbikes, jet skis and photos
Roberto was once also on the most wanted list along with his brother Pablo
Along with doing these tours, selling his signed books and photos, he also owns a number of the top brothels around Medellin. Prostitution is ripe here in Medellin, there are many beautiful women here and the going rates are very cheap which attracts a lot of men to visit here.
