NIAGARA FALLS IN THE PHILIPPINES= I WAS THERE!
Good evening steemians. Showing you all now my second destination during my Dec. 2017 vacation. The majestic and multi-tiered waterfall of Bislig, Surigao del Sur, Philippines. @Tinuy-anFalls.
From Mangagoy, Bislig City. You can reach Tinuy an falls thru motorcycle or so called "habal-habal" or better yet make "pakyaw" a motorized tricycle, about an hour away( P200.00 per person). It's a bit complicated and expensive to get there but the experience and the spectacular view will be worth the trip.
As you reach the entrance, there is an arc and signage where you can take pictures. And also some pasalubong stalls/store for souvenir items.
The name derives from the Visayan word "tuyo", which means "dry". Tinuy-an or tinuyo-an means an intentional act to achieve a certain goal. According to the legend, there was a time when ceuel tribes feom Agusan enslaved the Magdiwata Mountain settlers, forcing them to do much of the heavy labor, which included building and manning small boats called barotos for their enslavers. One day, while rowinh their masters on barotos, the slaves decided to put an end to the plight of their people by deliveratelysteering the barotos towards the thundering falls. This intentional act was the basis for the name Tinuy-an falls.
According to the locals, a rainbow appears between 9-11am. Unfortunately we were not able to witness because of the rain. You cannot explain the feelings the wonders of God's creation. So amazing!.
Picnic tables spread along the river banks.
We rented bamboo raft or so called "balsa" the amount of 150 pesos for 10persons to get closer to the cascading water.! We acxompqnied by 2 guides for safety purposes.
We just have to give them some tips as payment for their assistance. We have ropes that we pull to get there. It was cold and strong waters,
It was a bit of massaging affect of your body as the water hit your body.IMG_20171221_144416.jpg
The experience is great to visit one of the best tourist destination of the Philippines. It was one of Mother Nature's most stunning gifts to the Philippines.
Til' our next trip steemians. See you all!
