Auroville-the city of dawn has its origins in the French language, "aurore"- dawn and "ville- city. infact many people from France have settled there - if I am not wrong 1/3 population in Auroville is French.
And it is peaceful and very relaxing, there are many meditation centers around. love the vibes over tehre. I wish you could visit the place sometime.
