This statue is made of a tree

One of the many tourist attractions in Maheshkhali is the centuries-old historical Bara Rakhine Para Buddhist Temple. The original temple was built approximately 283 years ago. The temple was renovated and repaired periodically as needed. The current temple was last rebuilt on December 7, 2004. The large brass statue is 101 years old. This is the 2nd largest Buddhist statue in Bangladesh, erected by the late U Thongangkya and the late Do Neng Way. The standing statue of the Seema Temple is carved entirely from a tree. This rare statue was erected approximately 112 years ago. There is no other Buddhist statue carved from a tree in Bangladesh. In addition, there is the National Pich Pagoda, Ko Na Wang Pakoda (Zodiac Pakoda). There are several temples here, each of which has a Buddha statue. Each building is beautifully crafted and golden in color, which looks like it is plated with gold.

Such a picture is seen upon entering

Bodh Mandir and a wedding bell next to it

The main design of the Bodh Mandir is like this, if you look at it from a distance, it will be a mandarin, it is made of gold which is sparkling in the sunlight. Around this temple, there are statues of some animals (tiger, horse, lion, elephant, Hanuman) which carry special meanings. Regular puja or bhog is performed according to the rituals of the priests or Buddhists here. Next to it, there is a pond which is made of concrete and there are many turtles in it which are close to tourists or people when they see them. Many people feed them, so they do it that way There is.

Turtle in the pond

Mung Ja Lingda Religious Pond - Gautama Buddha meditated for 7 days at 7 holy places after attaining Buddhism. He spent the 6th week In the past, while he was meditating at the Mung Ja Lingda pond, there was a heavy rainstorm. At that time, to protect the body of Gautama Buddha from the rainstorm, Nagaraja made his body an ashram and stayed there for a week by forming a hood over the head of Gautama Buddha. From this, every year, the Rakhines observe the rain fast at the Mung Ja Lingda pond to attain the satisfaction of Gautama Buddha.

Inside each temple, women are worshipping idols, while men are talking politely to tourists in their clothes and Buddhist temples. Even though it is a Buddhist temple, people of all religions come here. There is a festival here on Christmas Day, when the entire area is newly cleaned and decorated, there is a festive atmosphere. Each Buddha statue is washed with rose water. Although there was no fee to enter here earlier, now it costs 10 taka per person. Below I am pinning Google Maps and Steam Atlas.
