Cox's Bazar Modern Railway Station

The Cox's Bazar Railway Station is the most modern and well-equipped railway station I have seen in Bangladesh. It is a six-story railway station located in Chander Para, Jhilongjha Union, Cox's Bazar district. It is the first iconic railway station in Bangladesh. All the facilities of a modern railway station are here. The station has 6 platforms, ticket counters, restaurants, hotels, shopping malls, childcare centers, lockers, convention centers, ATM booths, and prayer rooms. This railway station was opened in 2023 and trains are running regularly. At the same time, it attracts many tourists because it is beautiful. People come to visit this railway station most of the day.

This station has been shaped like an oyster because it is near the sea. What makes it more special is that there are three large parking spaces outside the railway station. Where rickshaws, private cars, and large vehicles can be parked separately. The architect of this iconic station is Md. Faiz Ullah. The construction of the project started in July 2018. The Chinese contractor China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) and Bangladesh's Tama Construction Company, and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and Bangladesh's Max Infrastructure Limited are carrying out the work in two separate phases. It is included in the government's priority (fast track) project.

Even though regular trains run here, the administration is still unable to properly control the modern six-story building. It will be leased out for proper use. This modern facility-equipped building will be controlled by a foreign company from November and it will be fully operational.

An 80-foot long pedestrian bridge has been built to go from one platform to another. And escalators have been installed to go up and down each platform. There are special facilities for the elderly and the elderly. There is a provision for wheelchairs to go from one platform to another.

However, the seat fare varies according to the intercity and local trains. A total of 30 trains, including the Chittagong University shuttle train, operate here daily.

This is the last stop of the intercity trains and after all the passengers get off, there are two wash pits here to prepare the trains for re-journey where the trains are washed and cleaned and then travel according to the next schedule. There are modern facilities for cleaning the trains. The administration and passengers here are highly conscious about cleanliness. There are plenty of dustbins installed at each platform and other places.

All administrative activities are carried out in the modern building. From ticket counters to post offices, restaurants, hotels, shopping malls, everything. Luggage scanner machines are installed to check whether there is anything illegal in the bags of passengers traveling by train. There is a waiting area for passengers to wait.
