The Diary Game: Festive Travel(22/12/2025)

Season’s Greetings, Steemians! 🎄
December truly has a special way of lifting one’s spirit, and today was one of those days. I woke up in high spirits because my family and I were set to travel to Calabar for the holidays a trip I had been eagerly looking forward to.
I am the kind of person who loves to prepare ahead of time, so most of our packing had already been done days before. This morning, all that was left was to tidy up the house. I can’t stand the thought of returning from a trip to a messy home, so I washed the remaining dishes, put things in order, and made breakfast for my son. As for me, I skipped eating I usually avoid food before traveling to prevent stomach issues.
After our baths, we dressed up and I double-checked our bags to be sure nothing was missing. We switched off the electricity, cleared out the fridge, locked the windows and doors properly, and said a short prayer, committing our journey into God’s hands. With hopeful hearts, we headed to the park.
The excitement was real this trip felt like my much-needed escape from months of stress. My son and my mum were just as happy as I was.

But once we arrived at the park, reality hit us hard. It was packed with passengers, and then it dawned on me festive season wahala!
We bought our tickets and waited for the bus we waited and waited. No bus. Only endless promises that buses were “on the way.” I couldn’t help but wonder: shouldn’t they have prepared better for the festive rush? Honestly, that part was very frustrating. The excitement slowly faded as exhaustion set in.

Finally, the bus arrived. We boarded, and by past 12 pm after leaving home at 9 am the journey finally began. Unfortunately, the road didn’t help matters. Bad and dusty roads made the trip even more tiring, but thank God the bus didn’t break down. We eventually arrived in Calabar by 2:58 pm.

My husband, who was already in Calabar, came to pick us up from the park. Seeing him brought back the excitement and i couldn’t just wait to catch up with some few friends. We were hungry and completely worn out, so we stopped at an eatery to buy food and we took it home. The first thing I did after getting home? Eat! 😅
After that, I rested a bit, had a refreshing shower, watched some TV, and enjoyed a light dinner before heading to bed. I was completely exhausted, and all I needed was a good night’s rest.
