CineAtlas 60 | Week 4 - Object as Character | [Amit Park / Modipuram]

I thought a small pomegranate plant in a park close to my house in Amit Park, Pallavpuram, Phase-1, Modipuram, India should make an ideal subject for a one-minute movie, as its growth subtly mirrors life's fragility, resilience, or hidden depths, weaving in importance, emotion, mystery, or symbolism through simple visuals.
“Why this object?”

This park where I shot this plant is my regular walking area, close to my house and it has an established geo location on Google Maps.
When the idea to make this plant as object or prop came to my mind, it gave me endless creative possibilities, blending its quiet life cycle with themes of importance, emotion, mystery, or symbolic meaning.
I shot the plant as a metaphor for inner strength. I picked a small wooden pin and pricked it, yet it endured it even if it showed few emotion but yet reacted as if in pain.
This prop has fragile leaves yet whispers gritty realism, eerie intrigue, humor, wistful nostalgia, or profound allegory, and I tried to capture them all in 60 seconds using my phone.
I thought I would try to treat this plant as a friend and make this object feel like a character. I did that by leaning and heard it talk poetically by personifying its leaves' whispers and its realistic feelings. I offered him my tender care to save him from wilting.

I shot several other plants close to it as I felt he looked at them for their companionship.
Oh yeah, I might sound funny, but when I remember Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose who was an Indian polymath, physicist, botanist, and biologist. He invented the crescograph to measure extremely minute growth and movements in plants.
I thought if he proved even plants have life, I could not stop myself from trying that in hope of watching that myself. I captured the plant's delicate sway in morning light as a dance of existence, with slow-motion droplets tracing veins like tears of renewal. I shot a few close-ups that evoke wonders.

I showed a daily ritual by watering the plant in this park, highlighting the plant's vital role as a touchstone of stability.
I tried to show its importance through resolving in a thriving belief that grounds the character's routine.
I shot the plant in shadows, then subtle anomalies, like leaves dropped from nowhere, building suspense as if its roots were hinting at a buried secret.
I remember once I tried to sing a song as if to fulfill the plant's demands, but it shook its head as if it didn't like it but it moved dramatically when it heard my song, haha. I felt it didn't feel happy with silly songs.
