SLC32-W6 ||The Real Video Vlogging Adventure Challenge
Hi dear Steemians, I am sure you guys are hail and healthy and doing well! Today, after a long time I decided to participate in a SLC so what better than a vlogging contest by @nevlu123 and @alejos7ven in the sixth and final week "The Real Video Vlogging Adventure Challenge".
I am ready and straight away come to the questions:
Which local market did you visit, and what makes it unique compared to other markets?
The market I am going to visit is my neighborhood market Pallav Towers which is a combination of everything you need in your daily life including from computers and its parts, internet services, medicines, fruits, vegetables, and even street Food.
This market is located close to my home on Delhi- Dehradun Highway, Pallavpuram, India and that's the reason it's named as Pallav Towers.
This market opens at 10 in the morning and is open until 9 pm but some shops are open even after that especially the street food and fruits including vegetables and medicines. This market has a couple of nursing homes inside which makes it even more useful.
What products or local specialties did you find most interesting, and why?
I love the shop in Pallav Towers is my favorite Timcy Store Because they provide all my needs for my blogging and vlogging including mouse, headphones, and other necessary small items which I need from time to time but that's not the only shop that I prefer to go to.
I have this medical store right here that offers me a discount.
I also have this small but popular South India food store whose Dosa and Idly have the perfect spicy balance and fresh preparations that brighten every bite.
A Famous shop Bengal Sweets selling famous Bengali sweets always catch my eye because of unusual sweets for this area and their prices great for gifting and easy to pack for travel.
Finally, a small stationery and gift store near the complex stocked attractive notebooks and books, useful for content planning and vlogging notes.
And to top it all I have this Airtel Outlet in this complex which provides me internet, TV services and of course the phone connections all in one place.
Airtell
And it would not be fair if I don't mention all the vendors selling fruits and vegetables right within the complex or at the entrance.
How did the market reflect the lifestyle, culture, and daily activities of the local people?
The market reflects local life because it is not just a shopping place but it is where we the local people meet, talk, bargain, and keep daily routines moving.
It shows the culture of the area through fresh vegetables, street food, household goods, clothes, and small vendors who serve families, workers, and travelers every day.
For many locals, the market is part of their life because it's where we get our transpiration, the petrol and diesel, from early morning to evening as this market is is located between two Metro stations which are on the walking distance so it makes life easier for locals.
We buy groceries, useful items, and quick meals after work. It also supports small traders and nearby farmers, so the market becomes a place of livelihood as well as community connection.
You will be surprised to note that the famous bio-weekly market on Tuesdays and Satuerdays is held close to this market where hundreds of farmers come from nearby areas and sell their produce starting 4 pm to late night.
I think the most interesting part is that it feels practical and social at the same time as people come for necessity, but they stay for the atmosphere, familiar faces, and local flavor. That is why the market feels like a living picture of the people’s lifestyle and culture.
This market plays a big role by street food vendors in preserving regional culinary culture as they offer regional culinary. They use local ingredients, familiar spices, and methods and these stalls are not just places to eat but people gather, share conversations.
In this way, street food keeps regional taste, community spirit, and culinary tradition alive every day.
- Did you capture any unexpected or memorable moments during your video vlog? Describe what happened and how it made your vlog more engaging.
I recall a sudden burst of crowd energy when a vendor started loudly advertising fresh mangoes, and people quickly gather around. That scene showed the people need fresh but the reality was different.
He admitted he ripens his mangoes with carbide which you can hear in video.
I was one of them but when I picked a few I noticed something familiar, he had ripened them with the help of Carbide and mixed fresh mangoes with old ones.
