The Journey I Almost Didn’t Take
Hello, friends welcome to my post in which I have discussed "The Journey I Almost Didn’t Take" as part of my participation in this contest organized by @alexanderpeace
During my service year, after seeing where I was being posted to from the NYSC camp in Jalingo I told myself that I wouldn't follow my colleagues to the place I would remain in Jalingo which is the state capital, and sort things out with the state coordinator.
I was discouraged by what I heard people say about the place, people said a lot of negative things about where I was posted to; how far the place is, how cold, and lonely it is. I felt discouraged but later got encouraged to go and see things for myself as some people were lobbying to be posted to the same place I was rejecting.
I tried to convince myself not to go, but I ended up seeing myself inside the vehicle with my colleagues including my friend, who was trying to discourage me, which I felt betrayed by his not being sincere to me. At the end of the day, I decided to go to the place based on the hyping inside the vehicle.
The journey started making sense to me and everyone when we started seeing tall mountains, wildlife conservation, wild animals, beautiful forests, and how cold and chill the weather is.
Reaching my place of primary assignment for the first time I fell in love with the place, the people who are so nice, and how I was treated like a VIP, I quickly cancelled all negative thoughts of me planning to leave the place.
I went to several mountains and experience mature with my friends. There is a lot of nature in the place which I would love to explore again.
