My first time traveling alone | Travel contest #11

It was 1986, and I was just 13 when I was invited to a Jehovah's Witnesses assembly. I was living in Caracas, and the talk was to be held in Maracay. That meant traveling approximately 119 km from Caracas to Maracay. The assembly , on that occasion, would last four days, from Thursday, August 13th to the 16th.
My parents weren't keen on accepting that invitation, but I was. I'd done some things independently since I was younger, so my parents didn't object to the planning of my trip. Before going on the trip, we requested accommodation in some places near the convention area. We had to bring what we needed: food, bedding. Some even brought electric stoves.
We left a day early. The accommodation turned out to be a large, three-story house. They housed seven families there, including me. Upon arriving at the reception area, I bought a sleeping mat. I had also brought a sheet to cover myself. Maracay is a hot city; the climate is very different from Caracas.
However, I had a fantastic time. One of the things that impressed me about this trip was that about 2,000 people gathered at the convention venue. The stadium baseball "José Pérez Colmenares" It was too small for such a large crowd.
The days flew by. I enjoyed great company and learned about teamwork. When it was time to cook for everyone, we all pitched in. I contributed as much as possible. It was a wonderful week, and all the experiences I had prepared me for the future. But that's another story. I invite @bossj23, @thequeen, and @eliany to share their first solo trip.
