The Journey I Almost Didn’t Take.
Hello my dear Steemians,
Do you also have the time when you did not see your old friends for a long time. As to me, yes, I had many school friends but maybe because of the busy time that we have school, university and just many activities that brings us many new friends we might forget about our old friends.
I never thoughts about how quickly the time goes and actually it was like: I will see my school friends later, maybe on Christmas or maybe on Easter. I think both myself and my friends understand that it is only the reasoning and not a real explanation.
Me and schoolfriend Brenda we wanted to meet up for New Year, like we usually did it when we were in school. Our tradition was to visit my friends house, her parents had big house in countryside and we usually spent time with her parents, just a day before we were cooking, preparing salads and her parents were also there till evening meal. Of course after that me and Brenda we would go our way for small walk in city to spend midnight and New Year but then returned home. Actually we always had a lot of fun but since last 3 years we did not see each other.
Brenda offered me to meet up for last New Year and I was thinking if to go or not because my Uni friends suggested to meet New Year together with other students. That is why I almost decided to stay with students.
I still remember very well how Brenda phoned me on 28th of December and asked if I am joining her, we had a long chat and actually I felt so good after our conversation that on following day I made a decision I am going to my childhood friend. It was a surprise visit.
I just took my car and drove 5 hours to south of England, the road was good, without any traffic jam and I arrived in the evening, when I came to door and rang a bell I was very excited because it would be a surprise and I was very keen to see the face of my friend.
Brenda opened a door and froze for a moment, she then just cried and gave me a hug, that was worth to do the trip. I felt myself like back to childhood. The parents of Brenda were very surprised too and were very excited. It was such nice warm welcome and it was really unforgettable New Year!
