Using Blockchain for Decentralized Autonomous Supply Chains

in Tron Fan Club9 days ago

The current world is characterized by very important supply chain. They assist companies in transfer of goods between producers and buyers. There are numerous issues with traditional supply chains, however. They are usually tedious, costly and at times unreliable. Errors, fraud and delays could occur with ease.

I was always intrigued by the ways in which technology can be used to address the issues of the real world, and one of the solutions that can be potentially effective is the blockchain technology. Decentralized autonomous supply chains on blockchain is redefining the movement of goods in the world.

Blockchain is an information technology that stores data in an impeccable manner. All the transactions are stored in blocks and these blocks are connected. Information that has been added can never be altered. This aspect renders blockchain very dependable. Blockchain can trace all the actions by the product, including its factory and final consumer in a supply chain.

This implies that companies are able to keep goods updated and can be aware of the whereabouts of their items at any given time. I believe that it is one of the greatest advantages of blockchain usage in supply chains because of this transparency.

A decentralized supply chain implies that there is no single individual or organization that puts the entire system under control. Rather, common network is used to disseminate information among all participants. This minimizes the chances of fraud, errors or delays due to a point of failure. Indicatively, an instance in which a shipment is delayed can be seen by all the participants prompting them to act fast. This delay can be confused or even lead to losses in the traditional supply chains as some parties are unaware of what is going on. In my opinion, decentralization would render supply chains efficient, fair, and reliable.

This is furthered in autonomous supply chains. They work with automatic rules that are programmed in the blockchain and are called smart contracts. Actions occur automatically when given a set of conditions. An instance of this is where a shipment can be received at a warehouse automatically releasing a payment. This will eliminate the use of middlemen and human intervention.

I have come to know that smart contracts transformed supply chain to be fast, cheap, and more accurate. Businesses are no longer required to turn to manual processes that can be time consuming and erroneous.
Trust is another potential benefit of blockchain in supply chains. The information can be relied upon by customers and partners since the information is not editable.

They have the opportunity of checking on the source of products, quality control and time of delivery. It is quite handy in such industries as food, medicine, and luxury goods, where originality plays a vital role. I am also amazed that technology can build trust without the central entity or the intermediary.

Supply chains are also resilient when they are using blockchain. In case of failure of one component of the system, others can still run as it is a distributed network. This helps in preventing extensive disruptions. I believe that this feature plays a central role particularly in a world where natural disasters, political issues or economic problems have the potential of disrupting supply chains. Decentralised autonomous systems are more adaptable and they can adapt to unforeseeable circumstances.

To sum up, decentralized autonomous supply chains that are managed using blockchain are transforming the business process and operations. It introduces clarity, integrity, effectiveness, and strength to all phases of the process.

This is because I have now understood that blockchain is not only about cryptocurrencies; it can be used to address real issues in the real world. I think that this technology will be embraced by more businesses in the future, and supply chains will become intelligent, faster, and more reliable. In my case, I find it fascinating to see how innovation would improve and enhance everyday processes in terms of safety.
