Where the strike came from - Tv - Samsung A05 |

The unpredictable strike overwhelmed Nigeria from the United States of America. A day we will not forget in a hurry. What Donald Trump, the president of the US, termed a “Christmas gift” to Nigeria sparked reactions and divided opinions. Some are condemning the strike as uncalled for, but then, that's not the position of the Federal government, who announced that the military strike was a joint operation, with the Nigerian military providing intelligence information to facilitate the strike.

Others are saying that Sokoto wouldn't have been the place to have been struck if terrorists were targeted at all, as the hit right now is in Borno State. Meanwhile, a greater percentage of Nigerians are expecting to see evidence of casualties other than the debris of the weapons. My head is loaded with so much confusion about what to believe about my country. Are we supporting terrorism, or are we fighting a religious or political war? Are Muslims and Christians not affected by all the killings, kidnapping and genocides? Why are sets of people against the strike when Nigeria actually needs foreign help to restore peace in this country? Let's talk more about this and other engagements of my day in phases, beginning from the morning and before I slept.

MORNING
Like I have said much above, concerning the US strike and the reactions from different persons, my wife woke me up because I slept back after prayers while she was in the kitchen preparing breakfast. She brought my phone, where she saw the breaking news Trump posted. I didn't believe it until I turned on the television and checked through CNN and other channels, which were on something else, but fortunately, Arise News was on it. That was when the unpredictable became reality, a big surprise to Nigeria and more to say that the US really meant their words.
Step out, and the news became an anecdote in all casual conversations in the neighbourhood, with everyone carrying their own side of the storyline, some in agreement while some were asking questions. As for me, Nigeria needs help, and that is where I stand. Both Christians and Muslims are affected by every killing, genocide and the like as far as Nigeria is concerned.
At about 11am the water board company gave the surroundings water, maybe for the sake of Christmas. It has been months without such an amenity, which is a necessity flowing through the pipes to houses. I seized the opportunity to wash my clothes.

The noon time met me still on laundry and fetching water into the house from the tap. After I finished with the domestic involvements I then made some graphics designs for my clients. They requested new year greetings cards which I was able to deliver up to 5. About time, call it 2:pm, I took a nap to rest my head as I had an evening programme.
After resting for about an hour, I woke up to watch AFCON matches before I went to The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria Mbiabong Parish as their youth had an end of the year event. I was there quite early before the event even started. I played keyboard for them and also handled some prayer sessions which took us through 9pm.
In the church
The turn up for the youth gathering wasn't encouraging but being a mission minded person who is not determined by the crowd to serve God, didn't allow it to bother my tempo. I delivered exactly what I went with through God. It was a programme to have experienced rather than being told.
