A Night In A 150 Year Old Tunnel
A couple of weeks ago I found this small abandoned tunnel on a trail, while hiking with my family. I knew right away, what I wanted to do at it. But was also very curious about the use and history of it!
After doing some digging I found out that it was built by the Lake Erie railway (Later absorbed by the Toronto Hamilton and Buffalo railway) in 1875. After several accidents involving cattle from the local farms crossing the tracks. So the tunnel was built for farmers to move cattle without having to cross the tracks.
