My Story Today, I Made Kolak for My Breakfast Menu This Morning

Hello Steemians lovers.
Today I made kolak (combo) for breakfast. This green bean kolak (combo) with a mixture of cassava, sago, ripe jackfruit, and banana is a real favorite.

It tastes delicious and rich in flavor. Kolak is a very popular dish in my country, Indonesia, especially during Ramadan. The sweet and savory flavor of coconut milk, combined with the soft texture of the sweet potato and green beans, definitely makes this dish a favorite for everyone. First, I cleaned the cassava after peeling it.

This is very important to remove any dirt and remaining skin. After cleaning, I washed it thoroughly.

I cut the cassava into the desired size for the kolak. I also cleaned other ingredients like the green beans and jackfruit so everything was clean and ready to cook. Then I peeled the mature coconut using a machete.

Peeling mature coconuts does require a little care. Make sure you hold the coconut firmly and carefully when peeling it to avoid injury.

Once the coconut is peeled.

I can grate it to make coconut milk, which will add a savory flavor to the green bean compote. I'll make this coconut milk from old coconuts the traditional way. It tastes better with fresh coconut milk.

The green beans are ready to cook. I also added the green beans.

Cook the green beans until they are soft and tender before adding other ingredients like sweet potato, sago, and jackfruit. This will enhance the flavor and texture of the compote.

I cook the sweet potato until it's soft and fully absorbed by the coconut milk and other spices. A well-cooked sweet potato will have a soft texture and a sweet flavor. 2

I also add a little salt to balance the sweetness of the compote. Red sago will add an interesting color and texture to the green bean compote.

The natural red color I use is from dragon fruit. The taste is even more beautiful and attractive with the addition of my homemade red sago. Then I stirred slowly, which is very important to ensure all the ingredients cook evenly and nothing burns.

This method will improve the taste and texture of the kolak.

Now the green bean kolak with sweet potato, sago, and jackfruit that I made this morning is cooked and ready to serve. I served it warm. It tasted very good.
