Three gold miners working at the illegal mining site Gampong Pulo Lhoih, Kilometer 12, Geumpang District, Pidie District were found dead in a hole on Sunday (2/8).

Andi said, based on the testimony of the witness Muntada (victim), Fahrol. At 12:30 a hole that had been previously available was offered by Tgk Amat Blang.

After that, the three gold miners descended to the hole with a depth of 17 meters to examine the presence of gold. After arriving at a depth of 17 meters, the three victims were no longer able to rise to the ground again due to lack of oxygen until the three died in the hole.

"According to information from the Geumpang Health Center, the three victims died due to lack of oxygen intake," he explained.

The witness then reported this incident to the Geumpang Police Station. Receiving the report, Brigadier Irfan and three other personnel at the 17th Koramil Military Command headed to the scene. Together with the local community, the three bodies in the hole were evacuated and taken to the Geumpang Health Center for divisum.

"At around 5:30 p.m. the body arrived at Alue Baroe by being carried using wood," he said.

He said, arriving at the Geumpang-Tangse road had been waiting for an ambulance to pick up the victim. The body arrived at the Geumpang Public Health Center at 6:00 p.m. and immediately carried out Visum et Repertum.
"Then the three bodies were temporarily buried in the house of the victim Muntada," he explained.

Andi admitted, the case of the death of three gold miners in Geumpang is currently under investigation by the Geumpang District Police. "This case is still being investigated by the Geumpang police station," he said.

Kapolrs Pidie also regretted that there were still residents who did gold mining in Geumpang. Whereas previously it had been dealt with and had even been prosecuted for illegal gold mining.

"Yes, the problem is that enforcement and closure that has been done do not deter people," he explained.

He hoped, with this event it would be a lesson for local residents to no longer mine gold traditionally and without permission. It is better for people to look for other types of income to fulfill their needs.

"Yes, hopefully the people can search for and work on other types and fields of work to meet the needs of life other than by mining," he concluded.
