Ulog No. 67: "First Sunday of the Year"

in #ulog5 years ago

There was no church service. It was already decided that the first Sunday of the year would be celebrated as one big church family by having a barbecue picnic at the park. The picnic started at 12 noon so I went early so that I could greet everybody Happy New Year and hang out for a little bit until 1 PM.

It was a really good day for picnic. Even though it was a little warm, there was a cool refreshing breeze coming from the sea. The men cooked barbecue, whilst the women were either busy looking after the kids or just chatting with each other. The kids were busy, too, playing cricket or football, riding their scooters, rollerskating, or climbing trees or playground equipment.

Everyone seemed to have had lots of fun just enjoying each other's company and catching up with one another since we didn't see each other for two weeks during the Christmas break. We didn't have church service during that period.

At 1 PM, people had only just started eating their lunch while I said goodbye. I was the first one to leave. I wanted to stay longer but every Sunday my husband and I always have lunch at my mother-in-law's house. It has become like our tradition ever since John and I started going out.

As usual, my lunch at Mum's house was divine. I had Kreatopita (Greek meat pie) and salad, mangoes and cookies and cream cheesecake for dessert, and then had Greek coffee.

After lunch, John and I went home. Before we went inside our house, John helped me water our front yard. Then he watched a few episodes of Game of Thrones, whilst I was out tending to my little plants at the back. I have a chili plant and a small Smaragd tree still in a pot that I water every day.

@quochuy inspired me to try to have a couple of plants, see how I go with them. Take baby steps in gardening because I actually don't know anything about it. I decided to have a chili plant because at least then if it has fruits, I don't have to go to the shop to buy them. It is something I use occasionally in my cooking so I would not have it in the fridge. Imagine my excitement when I saw my chili plant bore its first fruits.

When I finished watering my plants, I went back inside the house, checked my Steemit and replied to comments and messages. It is through the conversations with @creatr that I got enthused to set up my telescope again.

My husband gave me this telescope for our 6th year wedding anniversary last year. When I found the box (unwrapped) on our bed, I screamed out loud in excitement. I was "over the moon," so to speak. John knows how much I love to look at the moon, I even bought a pair of binoculars a few years ago for this reason only.

I planned to go out in the evening to look at the sky and see Saturn or anything other than the moon, which is my most favourite among all the heavenly bodies.

I also attached my mobile phone holder to the eyepiece so I could take photos of anything I might see in the sky at night.

At 7:30 PM, there was still daylight, John and I went to the tennis courts and hit some tennis. Then we had Go Buckets from KFC (haha! After all that activity, we decided to be unhealthy). Well, to our defense, we only had one go bucket each. I will burn some more calories tomorrow instead.

Anyway, I accumulated over 6000 steps the whole day, and I would have had an @actifit report, however, when we got home it was already too late. I was tired and had a shower then I fell asleep. I woke up and it was already half past four in the morning, which meant I was not able to use my telescope after all that preparation. I also lost all my activity count and I am back to zero. So I decided to write all of this because I couldn't go back to sleep anymore.

Until then and thank you for reading. If you have any comment, please reply below. Thanks and God bless you all!
