Ulog #2 : Eat Organic for a Long Happy Life
"Ulog #2 : Eat Organic for a Long Happy Life"
So while I go through this effort to eat healthier, exercise more and try to improve my general happiness, I have been doing a lot of research again.
Clearly our diet plays a part in disease and also mental illness. While a good diet can't solve all these problems, it certainly can help.
So over the years I have read about low fat, low carb, high protein, vegetarian and various other theories on what is good or bad for you.
After literally thousands of hours of research, I have come to a simple conclusion. The more natural something is, and the less processed, the better it is.
Simply put, if it used to be alive, grew in the ground or on a tree, it is at least, as a starting point good for you. The struggle if you dive deeper into this however is that even many "natural" things are processed. It is almost at the point where finding anything that is healthy in a supermarket is near impossible.
So my advice, if you really want to eat healthy for mental heath, shop at markets, buy organic, shop daily if possible to get the freshest ingredients. Then cook at home for yourself, that way you know what you are eating.
