I have just joined nextcolony a few days now, and am already figuring out how things work around here... I look forward to start going on missions, but i got to build my base up first... Well while building i realized i was always running short of copper and uranium more that i was for coal and ore...
So what do i do??? Think.... Think... Eureka!!!
I just need to focus my resources to enhance and level up my copper and uranium mines to give me greater outputs... So i am going to leave my coal and ore mines at level 3 for now, and build my copper and uranium mines to level 5 then level 7.
Lets see how this strategy works for my overall base development.

Focussing on mines and bunkers for starters is the best option, in my opinion. I would concentrate on coal for starters. The amount of coal needed for everything will grow very steep. Copper is by far the least important of all four resources. I would push coal first, followed by ore, then uranium.

All in preparation for space battles where the strongest contender wins it all. This is where we will see hostile takeover of valuable planets and resources by stronger forces. This is where the strong will prey upon the weak, and where the weak will form alliances to resist the onslaught of the strong.
Right now, there are those that have space domination in mind, they are aiming to be the super power in space, that is why they are already building the mightiest ships in next colony, the dreadnoughts,
When the battle for space supremacy begins, what happens to smaller growing colonies? How can one protect themselves now from future invasion and hostile takeover by stronger forces?
A good strategy is to build a very strong defence right from the start.
So as much as building your mines is important, deploy the mined resources into protecting your planet. Build up your shields and your bunkers... This will keep most predators away while giving you space and time to build up your ships to join the war of the worlds.

I am less than a month old in this galaxy, and this question has been on my mind a lot.
If my planet comes under attack by invaders or plunderers is there a way i will be notified before they actually arrive on scene, so i can prepare my defenses?
What if i am offline at the time they launch their attack, will my planet be overcome by them, or is there some automatic defense safeguard to prevent my planet from being pillaged even though i am offline?
your planet will be defended by your spaceships. But there is a website called spycolony that you could check. its no app yet so you dont get any screens or alarms on your phone.
Congrats! Seems you are one of the lucky ones finding a planet very soon compared to others - I would try to ramp up planet two with all mining options as soon as possible. Depends on the area of the galaxy and your nearby opponents though. I try to have all planets on a similar level in terms of mining ressources, depots, defense and flying pieces lol
I'm an old player of a game called Space4k and was very excited when I learned about Nextcolony. There's a lot of things here that remind me of that game, and I'm sure I can give my contribution to this universe. The idea of a space game based on the steem blockchain is brilliant, and it makes it all the more interesting. That's why a few days ago I created my account and started playing at once, but I almost immediately encountered a bug that's making it progressively more difficult to play the game.
What happens is the game just does nothing. No matter how many times I click on an upgrade or a skill, it just won't start, it won't take any resources (which right now isn't a problem, but it will as soon as someone gets the idea of raiding me) and it won't start any countdown. It looks like the game doesn't register what I'm trying to do, but if a check on Steemd I can clearly see that my requests are going through the blockchain. Actually, when I first encountered this bug two days ago, the game ended up doing everything I asked for, just without telling me first. At some point I found myself with a bunch of new buildings and skills. It just didn't show me the correct amount of resources I had, and didn't show me how far it had gone with the building of structures.
Still, I could live with that. But today it's not even doing that anymore. I started the building of a lvl 3 depot (51 minutes) 2 hours ago and I still got nothing.
I tried changing browser (from FF to Chrome), I tried clearing the cache and deleting the cookies, to no avail. I don't know what to do! If anyone has a solution, I'd be glad to try it :)
The game runs on servers that cash the blockchain, the server missed a block it isn't there so the server needs to cash the missing data. I don't know how long this will take.
This information was from discord, this forum isn't from nextcolony but their players are administrating it.
Hi there I encountering the same problem too now. I think personally that they are busy with an ugrade of the system without setting it here on the forum. Im going to check now on other channels if its that what I think it is. Its a early stage game so this could be happening now and then.

Yes, the zoomable map is a big improvement. Also SpyColony has added a lot to my experience of the game. I can now see what's going on around me.

Majority of the NC players have this problem - excessive copper in their storage and dunno how to use em up XD

I built some mines on it already, so do I just start over with that planet while I still progress my main planet ?
