Nissan Leaf Nismo RC: a 100% electric race car at the Turin Motor Show
Thanks to two electric engines positioned at the opposite ends of the frame, Nissan Leaf Nismo RC is able to deliver a total of 240KW of peak energy per 640 Nm of torque. Compared to the previous version of Leaf Nismo RC, launched in 2011, the maximum power and torque delivery is more than doubled.
The Leaf Nismo RC shoots quietly in just 3.4 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h The racing car includes high-capacity lithium-ion battery technology and the inverter from the conventional Nissan Leaf, the world's best-selling 100% electric vehicle with over 410,000 units, in addition to some design elements.
This race car is fitted with a number of technological characteristics, such as e-Pedal, the system that enables you to accelerate, brake and stop the vehicle with a single pedal. It is a four-wheel drive vehicle in which the driving force is separately directed to each axle, giving the wheel with instant torque and ensuring higher adherence to the asphalt. Due to the placement of the battery in a central position, the frame's weight distribution is optimized while the electrical engines and inverters are installed on the front and back wheels.
Leaf Nismo RC introduces a series of lightweight parts and an entirely carbon fiber monocoque sports structure with a complete weight of 1,220 kilos. If the fresh Nissan Leaf Nismo RC's interior is based on the initial model, the exterior looks much more gritty. The red color scheme of silver and black is reminiscent of the Nissan Formula E vehicle. The three-part body consists of removable front and rear parts, fixed windows, headlights and LED tail lamps and rear wing adjustable. With a total length of 4,546 millimeters and a wheelbase of 2,750 millimeters, the model is slightly longer than the previous version. In addition to the aerodynamic profile, it also features a wide and lower trim, with the car's ceiling just 1212 millimeters from the floor: more than 300 millimeters lower than the current Nissan Leaf.
Nissan takes part in the Parco del Valentino to show the recent technological developments in the field of electrical mobility beyond the new Nismo series vehicle. Among these is the Vehicle to Grid (V2 G) technology, through which the vehicle becomes capable not only of absorbing energy from the network while it is being recharged, but also of returning it, helping in particular to balance the national electricity grid, optimizing the energy consumption generated by discontinuous renewable sources (solar and wind) and providing financial benefits to the owners of e.
In this regard, last May, Nissan signed a partnership agreement with RSE and Enel X to test and develop V2 G technology in Italy using two 18-month Nissan Leaf columns and two bi-directional Enel Juice2Grid columns.
At the start of this page you will discover an interview with Nissan Italia's President and CEO Bruno Mattucci, discussing the subjects covered by the media, the feasibility of electrification in Italy and more.
