As I've reviewed several posts in this series, I want to take a bit of time to focus on a particular issue: Self editing, and specifically self editing for relevance.

There are many cases where I tell people about the importance of an introduction. Introductions are useful in bringing readers in, and giving context. But when it's the fifth post in a series where the posts have all been published quite recently, the only thing I'd really want to see in an introduction is links to those posts, as there's nothing new to introduce here.

What I would rather not read is nearly 400 words about what Steem is and how it isn't a scam like MMM (which was a company, not a scheme. The scheme they used was a Ponzi scheme). There may be posts where that's relevant, but it is not relevant to the fifth in a series of posts about one dApp running on Steem.

When writing a post, self editing is critical. And one of the main questions you should be asking yourself is: Is this part needed? If it isn't necessary, there needs to be a really solid reason not to cut it out.
