Manteles individuales | Ecological 3R-S30W1

Es un gusto para mí participar en esta temporada del Steemit Challenge con una de las actividades que más disfruto hacer: la costura. Esta que nos propone @lunasilver es solo una de sus posibilidades y, ciertamente, la que nos da más libertad de creación y la que nos deja una mayor sensación de que no solo estamos contribuyendo con nuestra economía familiar, sino que estamos educando y ayudando a lanzar menos desechos al planeta.
La costura es uno de los oficios que da más ideas cuando nos proponemos reducir el consumismo exagerado, reutilizar los materiales que parecieran ser de poco provecho y reciclamos los restos de otras labores. La propuesta de @lunasilver es ideal para ilustrar esto.
He procurado seguir sus instrucciones y lo primero que hice fue sacar los retazos de tela que tengo guardados “para cuando haga falta”. Ese momento llegó.
El segundo paso fue planchar los retazos ya que, como estaban metidos en unas bolsas, estaban muy arrugados. No se apreciaba la forma. Cuando están planchados es más fácil cortar, trazar las líneas de costuras, casar las piezas, etc.
El tercer paso fue cortar los retazos en cuadritos de 7x7cm combinando estampados y unicolor. Yo elegí dos telas estampadas y tres unicolor. Luego los dispuse en la mesa para hacer el patrón de costura y que no resultara un ensamblaje caótico. No les di muchas vueltas y decidí, entre los dos que más me gustaron, trabajar con el mismo patrón que usó @lunasilver en su post de invitación. Hice una foto para que no se me olvidara cómo debía ir uniendo los cuadritos.
Y así comencé a unir un cuadrito de tela al otro para hacer las líneas más cortas, las de cinco cuadritos. Luego asenté las costuras con la plancha y procedí a unir estas líneas y así formar un rectángulo de cinco por siete cuadritos.
Una vez que tuve listo el rectángulo que sería la cara del mantelito individual, busqué una tela que le sirviera de base y le diera fuerza. Por eso elegí un retazo de jean. Es una de las telas más gruesas que conozco y por ello no necesitaría añadir entretela.
Enfrenté derecho con derecho, tracé las líneas de borde que estaban un poco irregulares, cosí por los lados más largos y luego volteé la pieza. Repisé los orillos previamente unidos con costura.
Los lados más pequeños los cerré con un bies blanco que fijé y luego repisé por el derecho de la pieza.
Y así me quedó:

Hello, my dear. Thank you for your words. If I inspire with my creations, you motivate me with your comments and your kind visit. For me, sewing is a source of ideas that take shape as I progress in making garments. Although it is clear that some jobs do not leave me much freedom to put my personal touch on them, most work as a creative exercise that brings me a lot of joy and, if that were not enough, financial benefits.
The table placemat you showed looks very practical and homely. I was inspired to see that it is possible to decorate such a beautiful table using simple materials. It is really admirable to work on something like this with the concept of eco-friendly 3R.
It looks like this placemat will make the dining table at home more beautiful.

Without a doubt, many things can be done with the scraps of fabric that we have left from other projects. Fortunately, I am a seamstress and I have many scraps. Sometimes commitments don't leave me much free time for free creation, but with these proposals I couldn't resist and set aside time to participate.

Hola, @marito74! Qué alegría leer tu comentario. Si de algo te sirve mi experiencia en estas labores seré aún más feliz. La costura es un arte que requiere tiempo y práctica. Yo debo seguir cortando para completar por lo menos los cuatro mantelitos para que hagan un juego y luzcan en mi mesa de comedor. Espero ver pronto tu creación.

What you say is very true: it takes time to do them, but there is no way to do them in a hurry and have the result be beautiful.

The idea of making such a beautiful placemat using old jeans and fabric scraps (retazos) is really great. As you have highlighted the importance of reduction and recycling,It is very necessary for the present time. Your sewing skills and patience are to be admired.

I learned that sewing is polished with practice and patience. At first I abandoned many sewing projects due to lack of patience because I didn't like unstitching or making pieces that required many steps and dedication. Life taught me that it was not like that. If you wanted perfection, you had to be patient and invest many hours of preparation. Sometimes I lose patience and I have to breathe and come back again and again... I keep learning.

De verdad adoré hacer está primera parte de la labor (debo continuar para que no quede un solo mantelito huérfano por la casa) y sigo cortando cuadritos, pero debía publicar y ya tenía el tiempo encima.
Me dedico a la costura profesionalmente. Esta es mi fuente principal de ingresos y ya tengo varios años de experiencia.
