Three micro stories of independence

To be honest, the word “independence” was just a historical thing for me before. I read in books that people fought, the country became independent—that’s all. But as I grew up, I realized that independence is not only in the country, but also within the people… and sometimes it doesn’t exist.

Today I’m writing three short stories—with a little laughter, a little pain, and a little strange fear.

😊 Microstory 1 (humor)

Rashed suddenly said one day, “From today on, I want independence!” He decided not to listen to anyone else. But when he didn’t find anything in the fridge at night, he went to his mother’s room and said, “Mom… do you have some rice?” His mother smiled and said, “This is your independence!”

😢 Microstory 2 (sadness)

An old man was sitting quietly. Once upon a time, he fought for independence, he had many dreams. Now there are independent countries all around, but no one is by his side.
He said slowly, “If only this independence would give back a little more people…”

😨 Microcuento 3 (terror)

I suddenly woke up at night. The window was open. The wind was blowing in. It felt like someone was whispering, “independencia…” I got up and looked around—no one was there. But that word still rings in my ears.

Actually, it’s easy to talk big about independence.

But understanding what it really means in your own life is a little harder.

Sometimes you feel independent, and sometimes you feel like something is still stuck inside. Maybe that’s true… independence is not just a story outside, it’s also an inside story.
