A Little Faith
She asked: Is he ever going to come back?
It was September, the last time he was here. The sky had the same light blue color. It was in the afternoon, when they just had their last meal. He was standing with them, looking at the lake in front of their small town house. They used to enjoy conversations when he was there. Now, all they do is, looking at the lake, enjoying some memories. Her sister is standing next to her. But, she is away with her thoughts. Her mind is living another moment. One from her memory. She is quite. But, her mind is replaying their last conversation, last laugh and last serious discussion with them.
Few steps away, their mother is sitting away. She cannot stand for a long time. She does not have that energy anymore. She is sitting down on the stairs, where he was heading for the boat, to leave for work. She did not hear from him since then. She was saying to herself: "It was those stairs which led him away. It was just like yesterday when I had two daughters and a son. But, life has its ways of testing us". She realized that it was not the nicest thought to think that way. So, she just prayed to him and ended with some words of faith. While, not being able to answer the simplest question of why would one have to go through this? And would there still be a joy in an incomplete house?

Thanks.. That's encouraging.. You reminded me of a quote for Becket that says "The void that comes after noise is harder than the one that comes after silence".
