One of the greatest painters of the 19th century, this artist's special interest in history led to his imagination for numerous paintings. His paintings closely reflected the mentality of various cruel rulers of that era. In this painting, the artist has attempted to depict the evil spirit of a cruel ruler.

This cruel king had deployed special soldiers in his capital, who roamed from city to city, searching for any beautiful girl in the house, to seize her and hand her over to the cruel ruler.

To this end, three of the king's soldiers and their leader arrived today from the city's most destitute and poorest neighborhood to abduct a little girl. However, the girl's mother resisted the group until the very end.

As a result, the soldiers forcibly brought the girl, along with her brother and mother, to the palace. They repeatedly tried to separate the girl from her mother, while the mother courageously resisted. A soldier is trying to tempt the mother by offering her a bag of coins. The girl's brother is crying bitterly, unable to do anything.

The mother is clinging tightly to her daughter and, kneeling down, is making an emotional request to the soldiers not to take the girl away.

In those days, kings were extremely ruthless and oppressive. They cared nothing for the suffering of their subjects; they were preoccupied with their own debauchery and pleasures. This is why conspiracies against rulers were easily hatched, and even bloody rebellions for power occurred.
