Walk with me - Spring in Malmö city
After an eternity of bad weather we finally got some really nice weather! Almost all the snow has melted and it is starting to feel like spring. A perfect day for a walk. This one is from the city center and took about an your, but that was with a lot of stops and chatting...
In the summer you can rent small boats att this place and pedal yourself along the canals.
There is just enough space to get under some of the bridges and tall people better watch their heads!
The canal is mostly surrounded by older buildings. The closest building to the left used to be the office of Massive entertainment.
There are some amazing old trees in the city center. Majestic! And whenever there is some big event in town the city makes sure that the trees are protected.
This is the old graveyard. A place that is beautiful year round but peaks in spring when att first the yellow and white spring flowers covers the lawns. And after a few weeks the lawns turns into a sea of blue when the scilla blossoms.
One of many pieces of art in town, "The Emigrants" by Carl Milles. Made in 1940 and yet feels very up to date. The figures on the back of the fish are each supposed to be holding a special skill that they needed for their new life.
Now we have moved to Drottningtorget (the Queens Square). The yellow building was originally used by the military for housing horses and carriages. Since then it has had a lot of different uses, among them housing a Red Cross museum. Now it is a combined boulevenue and bar.
Standing in the same place looking at the left.
And a little bit further to the left.
The city center is actually a mix of old and new buildings.
We end todays walk with a mural. If you like me love street art Malmö should definitely be on your to go list! A lot of legal walls and also some beautiful murals around town.
Thankyou for joining! Have a nice weekend!
