Enjoy the Waterfall at Wera Tourist Park

One more tourist park in Central Sulawesi with amazing natural beauty. Eyes seem not bored look at the greatness of God's creation. The impression of the Wera Tourism park offers you the exotic nature that pamper your eyes and refresh your body.

Initially, the tourism potential in this area was Wera Waterfall and secondary forest area in 1980. This area was designated as Taman Wisata based on Decree of Minister of Agriculture Number: 843 / Kpts / Um / 11/1980 dated 25 November 1980, with an area of about 250 hectares.

Wera Park is located about 20 km south of Palu City. Administratively, this Taman Wisata is located in Wera Village, Dolo Barat District, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. This area is relatively close and easy to reach because there has been an asphalted road that connects the city of Palu with the surrounding villages. To reach this area visitors can ride public transport (minibus) from Petobo Palu Terminal, or private vehicle with route: Palu-Rarampadende-Balumpewa) trip to this location only takes ± 30 minutes.

Located at an altitude between 150 meters-800 meters above sea level (asl) it has a steep hilly topography with a slope of between 60% -90%. Among the steep hills there is a narrow valley which is the flow of the Wera River. Wera River is not too wide and not too deep, because it flows through the steep rocks. Wera River water flow is still awake keasriannya, because in the hilly areas, especially the area around the peak is still a dense forest. The clear water is still flowing throughout the year.

On a part of the river, the Wera river flows through the hollow of the hills and forms the water of tejun. This is one of the best scenery in the Wera Wera Tourist Park. Just like some waterfalls in Sulawesi, Wera Waterfall has several levels. The main waterfall slid from rock cliffs between hills about 100 meters high. Under the main tejun water there are several levels of water but not too high. After descending to a somewhat flat place, the Wera river flows towards the village of Kaleke and surrounding villages.

Tourists can not only enjoy the coolness of the air and watch the beauty of the water falling from the cliff with a height of about 100 meters, but also can perform a variety of fun activities such as bathing or swimming in the River Wera the water is cool; climb the mountain to the top of the hill around the waterfall while enjoying the beautiful scenery; camping on a flat area in the north and on a hilltop near Ngatapapu Hamlet; and photo hunting of the natural beauty around the waterfall and the life of the surrounding community.

Not only that, tourists can also witness the diversity of flora and fauna that live in this region. Flora is grown in this region, among others: walnuts / ntoli (canarium aspermun), starfish (callophylum sp.), Lebanu (nauclea sp.), Beringin (ficus benyamina), lei (palagulum javanicum), and some epiphytic plants, such as orchids, and ferns nest (asplenium nidus).

The species of fauna that live in this region, among others: black monkeys (macaca tonkeana), horns / allo (aceros cassidix), forest chickens (gallus gallus), crows (corvus sp.), Wild pigs (sus colobensis), deer (cervus timorencis), blue-headed parrot (trichoglossus omatus), and yellow crested cockatoo (disabled sulphurea).
Wera Park Forest Park also includes Tropical Rain Forest species. In addition to the diverse plant species, within this park there are also many lush and dense trees. You will find the air clean and very cool. The contours of its hilly landscape provide beautiful green scenery.

For those of you who like adventure, the right place to enjoy the beautiful scenery is at the top of Wera Waterfall. You can reach it by foot, along the path in the middle of this protected forest. It is recommended that you wear appropriate footwear for steep terrain, such as shoes for tracking. The path will climb, considering the area of this forest is hilly. Arriving at the top of the waterfall, you will encounter stunning scenery. The waterfall beneath you, flowing curved into the thick green trees.

If you want to spend the night with camping, you can do it on the plains to the north and on a hilltop near the village of Ngatapapu. On the way there you can stop for a moment on the banks of the river Wera, to enjoy the coolness and freshness of the flow of the clear river Wera.
