in WhereIN14 days ago

I bought four big Indian jujubes at the supermarket; they’re crispy and sweet. It suddenly occurred to me that Indian jujubes are rarely grown in my hometown. The first time I saw a jujube tree was actually on my primary school campus.

There was a piece of uncultivated wasteland at the back of the school, which no one took care of. Later, the school planted a whole row of jujube trees there.

However, the climate here wasn’t suitable for them, so the fruits they bore were all tiny—nothing like the big ones in pictures.

One day, the teachers organized a group of students to pick the jujubes. When school was over, they distributed them to everyone, one cup per student. The fruits were small, with little flesh and not very sweet; we mainly ate them for novelty. But all the students were really happy.
