I cant say this is a big surprise. To think they wont do this because its illegal or unconstitutional, is just naive.
And of course they also have the means to install backdoors in router, or also in OS, anti-virus software and whatever. Manufacturers get harrassed into cooperating, and if they refuse, they will find a way to shut them down.
Its time to accept the truth and live with it. Draw your own conclusions.
