Why I think wigs are a better gift for my Black female friends than perfume
Previously, when choosing gifts for friends, I would almost always prioritize perfume, lipstick, or jewelry. These aren't bad gifts, but honestly, giving them too often makes them feel "safe but ordinary." It wasn't until later that I slowly realized that wigs are actually a severely underrated gift option.
I started to change my mind because I noticed how much thought they put into their hair, far more than I had previously understood. It wasn't simply a matter of "putting it on," but rather carefully considering hair quality, texture, whether it would damage their scalp, and how easy it would be to maintain daily. This made me realize that their hair condition is related to their mood, confidence, and even their work performance.
In comparison, perfume is more like a nice extra, while a high quality glueless lace wig is something that can genuinely improve their daily lives. Especially during holidays, travel, or busy work periods, a comfortable and natural-looking wig can really save them a lot of time and energy.
Once, a friend told me that she liked the deep wave wig I gave her the most, not because it was beautiful, but because "it was actually useful." At that moment, I suddenly understood that a good gift doesn't have to be expensive; it just needs to be relevant to the recipient's real life.
So now, if it's a close Black female friend, I'm more inclined to choose a wig rather than those gifts that look exquisite but are easily left unused.
