Israel-based Electreon Wireless has been chosen by the Swedish Transport Administration to build a dynamic electric road that charges vehicles as they drive along it. Electreon will put its copper coil technology, which transfers electricity wirelessly, under the road’s surface.
Once this technology is proved, it can bring the most elegant and cost-effective solution to the huge problem of emission from long-haul trucking. The electric road technology will make it possible for batteries to be 80% smaller than their traditional counterpart, which in turn, will make e-vehicles cheaper The Swedish government has an ambition to create 2,000km of electric highways.
