Followup Post - 1000 year old sinker Cypress table
This is a followup to the previous Dtube post about the table we built from a 1000 year old sinker Cypress log that we pulled out of a river and turned into a beautiful table. If you haven't watched the video you should check it out now. Here is the link:
We worked on this table for the better part of 6 months before we safely delivered it to its new home. We stood on this log when it was still sitting in the river and we've traveled with it from the Ogeechee river in Louisville, Ga to the sawmill in Nashville, TN, back to our shop in Athens, Ga and finally to the penthouse of the Four Seasons in Atlanta, Ga. We connect deeply with this piece of wood which was once lost at the bottom of a river but now overlooks the city. We too, once felt lost and hopeless but we were given an opportunity to start over, and have now found our purpose. No matter how insignificant you may feel, you have something valuable to offer the world, it's never too late to find your way and rise up.
THat is friggen gorgeous.......
Thanks man!
That is an exceptional Piece of wood, what finish did you use? Danish oil?
Such a great story to go with it as well. It is also documented here on steemit forever.
We have a woodworking community discord channel now and you would be most welcome to join us. Here is the link: Woodworking on Steem Discord Channel
There is also a weekly woodworking post competition to check out. Thanks.
Thanks brother! I'll check out the Discord Channel. Thanks for the recommendation!
Wow, really awesome story and great photos to boot! I’m new to Steemit but I’m excited to see that there’s a lot of talented wood workers here.
Thanks man! Welcome to Steemit. Seems like a good amount of woodworkers flowing into the community! Let's keep it growing!!!
