Gold on the frozen water
I was standing by the shore just as the sun started to dip toward the horizon. It is freezing out here in the early spring, but the view was too good to pass up. I pulled out my camera to try and capture how the orange light hits the floating ice. The sky is filled with these heavy, dark clouds that look like they are holding a lot of snow. One cloud in particular looks like it is dropping a curtain of rain or frost right over the water. The reflection of the sun on the icy slush is so bright it almost looks like liquid gold. Everything feels very still and quiet as evening begins to settle in. It is one of those moments where you forget about the cold for a second because the colors are so intense. The contrast between the warm sky and the dark, jagged pieces of ice is really striking. I love how the light catches the edges of the frozen chunks scattered across the surface. It is a bit of a trek to get out here, but seeing a sunset like this makes it all worth it. I am glad I caught the sun right before it disappeared behind that bank of clouds. There is nothing quite like a sunset to end the day on a peaceful note.
