A Matter of Time...

Time is a funny and magical thing... so filled with contradictions and conundrums.

We can't actually own it, but we can certainly spend it.

We allegedly have plenty of time... and yet, it seems like we're always running out of time.

Sometimes it feels like time moves faster and faster, even though time always moves at exactly the same pace, and every day still has 24 hours, made up of 60 minutes, made up of 60 seconds.

And so often, we fear that we are wasting time... but — ironically — we often claim that wasting time is what happens when we're doing some of the things we most enjoy doing.

Why is that? Are we on some kind of subconscious guilt trip over enjoying ourselves?

Modern life is dominated by time: everything we do is done on a schedule. We have to "be here" and "be there" at specific times, typically not of our own choosing.

And we're led to believe that we "have no choice" in the matter... and if we refuse we will become societal outcasts; fringe dwelling pariahs.

I write these words because I am growing increasingly aware of just how important it is that we make the most of our time.

Sure, those 80-odd years we might live on Planet Earth might sound like "a long time," but actually... it's not such a long time. And certainly not so long that we can waste time.

So... think about how you are spending your time, and whether that is a wise way to spend time... and is it time spent in a way you want to spend time, or just time spent acrroding to someone else's time table.
