My Gorilla Trekking Experience in Mgahinga National Park
There’s nothing quite like standing face to face with a mountain gorilla. It's one of those moments that stays with you forever.
On my recent trek in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, the adventure started early in the morning with a briefing by our ranger guide. He took time to explain how to behave once we reached the gorillas for example no sudden movements, no loud noises, and always keep a safe distance. His words set the tone for what would soon become one of the most memorable hours of my life.
I joined a group of excited travelers from different parts of the world, all eager to meet these gentle giants in their natural home. The weather was perfect that day being cool and calm, with no rain, which meant the trails weren’t muddy and our trek was smooth both going and returning. Nature seemed to be on our side.
When we finally found the gorillas, everything fell silent. Watching them feed, groom each other, and relax in the forest felt like stepping into another world. We were given one precious hour to be with them which was enough to take some photos, observe their behavior, and simply appreciate how similar they are to us in so many ways.
I captured these moments to share a glimpse of their beauty and calm nature.
I hope you like the photos and also let me know which one is your favorite!
Cheers 🥂

For me, they are all fantastic, but if I had to choose a favourite, it would be this one:

It touches me, even though I'm not quite sure whether he's sad or smiling?
Thank you so much @michelangelo3 they are so humble and watching them attentively reflects more of our connection with them. This is one of the females and she was calm, she's actually not that she's sad but so peaceful. They don't smile however 😅
Wow! Amazing animals. Pure respect.
Thank you so much 🙏. They are so amazing to watch
