Danau Laut Tawar from Mendali Bay in Photography

I’d like to take this opportunity to share some photos I took during my visit to Danau Laut Tawar. The photos I’m sharing were taken near Mendale Bay. This area was hit by a landslide in November 2025. The soil has not yet been fully cleared from the road, making it narrow. It will certainly take some time to clear the landslide debris originating from the hill on the lakeside road.
Even so, the lake is beautiful, surrounded by high hills and mountains. Some areas are no longer green due to landslides. At least the lake still looks beautiful when the sun shines on it. I took this photo from the car we were riding in.
Although there are mounds of earth along the roadside that can certainly obstruct our view—especially in the Mendale Bay area, which is famous for its stunning beaches and numerous tourist attractions—this has led some people to believe that Danau Laut Tawar is no longer beautiful. However, the photos I’ve shared show that Danau Laut Tawar is still well worth visiting as a tourist destination in the Gayo Highlands.
