Ducks, checkers, and family adventures on the river

When spring arrives, real duck fun begins in our house—it's duck feeding time! The whole family usually gathers and heads to the river to invite the gurgling, quacking swimmers, whom our children affectionately call "expert ducks."

This year, our trip to the river turned into a real comedy. I, as the main feeder, armed myself with a whole bag of bread, and my children with their ingenuity and enthusiasm. Mom brought a camera to capture all these funny moments and post them on social media with the caption: "Picnic on the river: ducks and their human trophies."

We're standing by the water, and suddenly the first duck, named Mallard, appears. She appears immediately, like a famous actor entering the stage, and quacks so loudly you'd think she's telling us something very important. We start tossing the bread around in tiny pieces, and suddenly the ducks turn into vacuum cleaners, diving chaotically and plucking out pieces with their beaks. Their nimble wings and bright saddle-shaped necks make it look like they're about to start a bread-eating championship.

For example, my youngest son decided to surprise everyone: he started throwing bread straight into the air—and one duck pecked so hard it almost dragged his hand down with it! Everyone laughed out loud as the ducks, like those at a pizza parlor, reached for the bread like hungry gourmets. And one of the ducks, named Gogol, suddenly decided the bread was her personal trophy and began quietly dragging the piece underwater, giggling like a true sea bandit.

And how good it is to smear bread in the water! The ducks immediately launched into a real race: who can eat the most, who can impress the others with their speed? Our children, trying to show off their agility, jumped around comically and even tried to pretend they were ducks too, with wings and quacking. Only their quacking still sounded more like coughs.

Finally, tired but very happy, we went home with the funniest memories. The ducklings, like true heroes, ate all our bread, and we giggled three times, watching this living circus.

And I realized one thing: nothing brings a family together like trying to feed the ducks... and our unsuccessful attempts were indistinguishable from their cries and antics. It was fun, a little chaotic, and with the feeling that within each duck there lurks a cheerful inner voice, just waiting to be heard.
