The Mystery of the Old Maple

in WORLD OF XPILAR16 hours ago

It was one of those rare autumn days when the air is transparent and the sun shines in summer warmth, but with a slight cool. My family and I decided to go to the city park - a place where harmony and tranquility always reign. Me, mom, dad and younger brother Sasha, who did not let go of his favorite scooter, walked along an alley strewn with golden leaves. It was so quiet all around that it felt like the whole town was frozen in anticipation of something unusual.

We stopped at a big old maple tree. Its mighty branches spread over the meadow, as if protecting it from all adversity. Sasha immediately ran to collect the most beautiful leaves, and my parents and I sat down on a bench, enjoying the moment. Suddenly I noticed that something flashed under the roots of the tree. Looking closely, I saw an antique key - large, with fancy carvings and darkened from time to time.

"Look!" I exclaimed, picking up the find.

The whole family gathered around. Dad carefully picked up the key and thoughtfully said:

  • Such keys used to be at old chests or wickets in estates. I wonder where he's from here?

We began to fantasize: maybe this is the key to a secret garden or a magic door? Sasha immediately stated that now we must definitely find a castle. We went around the entire park, looked under every bush, looked at the old gates and gazebos, but there was no suitable castle.

As we were about to leave, we noticed a small door at the base of an old bridge over a stream. She was almost invisible - overgrown with ivy and covered with dust for years. Dad put the key in the keyhole, and - lo and behold! - he turned easily. The door opened with a creak, and behind it was a tiny niche, and in it was an old box.

Inside were yellowed letters and a photograph: a young family - a man, a woman and a boy - standing at this very maple, smiling at the lens. On the back was the inscription: "Let happiness always live under this tree."

We were silent for a long time, looking at the picture. At that moment I realized: a real miracle is not the discovery of a key or a box. A miracle is an opportunity like this, with the whole family, to walk in the park, share the joy of discovery and feel that happiness really lives next to us, you just have to be able to notice it. We decided to leave the casket in place - let it remain a mystery to other heart-seekers.

Returning home, we carried with us not only autumn leaves, but also a feeling of something important. Sometimes amazing events happen not somewhere far away, but very close - you just need to be together and look at the world through the eyes of a child.

▌ The meaning of this walk is simple: happiness is not a treasure to be sought. These are the moments that we create ourselves when close people are nearby.
