THE TURTLE WINS FOR REAL AND FOR THE PAST

in #world8 years ago

This is a very old story but it has a lot to do with life.

In the world of animals lived a very proud and vain hare, who never ceased to proclaim that she was the fastest and mocked at the slowness of the tortoise.

"Hey, turtle, do not run so hard you'll never reach your goal!" The hare said, laughing at the turtle.

One day, the tortoise thought of making an unusual bet on the hare:

  • I'm sure I can win a race.

  • To me? The hare asked in amazement.

  • Yes, yes, to you, said the turtle. Let's put our bets and see who wins the race.

The hare, very intrepid, accepted the bet.

So all the animals gathered to witness the race. The owl pointed the starting and finishing points, and without further ado began the race amid the disbelief of the attendees.

Astute and very confident in itself, the hare let take advantage of the tortoise and kept mocking her. Then he started to run fast and overtook the slow-moving but still turtle. He stopped only midway before a green and leafy meadow, where he prepared to rest before finishing the race. There she fell asleep, while the turtle continued walking, step by step, slowly, but not stopping.

When the hare awoke, he saw with terror that the tortoise was a short distance from the goal. In a start, he ran with all his strength, but it was too late: the turtle had reached the goal and won the race!

On that day the hare learned, in the midst of great humiliation, that one should never mock others. He also learned that overconfidence is an obstacle to achieving our goals. And that nobody, absolutely nobody, is better than nobody

This fable teaches children not to mock others and that overconfidence can be an obstacle to achieving our goals.
