Thoughts from the middle of the jungle
I ended up in the middle of the jungle in a bungalow next to the beach with the most pleasant company I've met so far in the three weeks I've been in the Mexican Caribbean.
Viktoria and her beautiful 8 year old daughter Mia came from Austria for 2 weeks to explore the Mayan Riviera and I met them in the hostel I'm volunteering in.
You see, it's unusual to run into children in a hostel, not because kids aren't supposed to be there, but because normally, the mindset of people traveling with children doesn't fit with the hostel life - meeting new people, sharing experiences etc. Viktoria got a private room for her and Mia, but still wanted her daughter to interact with other travelers and to get to know the vibe and energy that flows inside a hostel and between this specific kind of travelers, so staying at the hostel I'm volunteering at was perfect.
Spending time with 8 year old Mia convinced me about something I kind of wanted but wasn't sure: at some point I want kids. Yeah, sorry millennial steemians, some of us still want a family of our own, lol. Spending time with Viktoria made me realize I want a relationship at some point, I've been traveling solo for too long and if I ever get into a relationship it would be with someone like her.
I mean, kids can be difficult and Mia is no exception, she gets grumpy very easily and quite often, but when she is in a good mood she can be the sweetest girl on the block.
Which makes me think. We already have some oncoming steemians on the belly of @roxane and @evecab. And we already have steemians on the making on @teamhumble and @misslasvegas family. There's already a DApp being developed by @dreemsteem called Spunkee Monkeys which is targeted to families and kids. So, we are on the early ages of making Steem a family friendly Blockchain, I wonder where that DApp will go, I wish the best of luck to them.
Speaking about families, I'm very glad to see more and more steemians inviting their parents, brothers, sisters and even grandparents to join the Steem Blockchain. One of the goals of @steemonboarding (which is overdue, I know) is to help you guys with that "welcoming process" to the platform. I expect that I along @coruscate and the rest of the team can deliver very soon.
Which reminds me, @ocd will be back very soon, expect an update from @acidyo any time now, because we'll be reloaded and ready to curate again.
This post ended up being more of a shout-out one and updating you on my life, not so much of a "thoughts from a..." kind of post, but hey, it is a freewrite after all and j just write about what comes to mind and let it flow wherever it takes me.
I'm going to be more active in the commenting other posts part of the interaction process on Steem, so, see you again in one of your posts :)
If having children is your way to grow the Steem blockchain I’m not going to complain #millennialstyle! :’)

So cool that you have met a nice mother and child in a hostel. We also left to volunteer in Spain when we left Holland in 2016. First we worked in a hotel and we had our 3 month old daughter with us. We had to take shifts, so I worked mornings and bf afternoons. The evenings were ours to enjoy as a family. After 2 weeks we moved forward to a hostel near Seville and stayed there 7 weeks (2 weeks planned lol) the last 8 days we even run it together as the owner was on a holiday. That was one of the coolest experiences in my life. Speaking 3 words Spanish, but still nail it! Have fun there, it seems you found quite a cool spot there!
Captivating heart melting picture. To think that this has to do with kids too can leave one with an ethereal feeling especially those who who have special love for kids like myself.
Nice one @anomadsoul
It is very interesting to see the number of families that are posting on Steemit now. I have seen several users create accounts for their kids and while not all of them post that much, the possibility is there. I think in the end it will be difficult to toe the line between family friendly and censorship free. I guess the good thing is while the Steem Blockchain can remain free of censorship, the individual front ends can do their own filtering if they so choose. We need to be okay with that though and not go into an uproar over censorship. If you don't like how the front end you are using handles content, pick a different one!
Thanks @anomadsoul!!! Our Spunkee Monkees are doing GREAT on the Beta test! They're having a lot of fun... But the parents are having fun too! Hehhee
It's hard work to be a parent! No doubt about it! Hehhee and our parents are very intentional about engaging with their Monkees !!!
Makes all the difference to us between a good project....and a GREAT project!!!
Thanks for the shoutout! And that pic of you relaxing there looks absolutely stunning! Wow!!! Enjoy your volunteer work there!!! 😊
This made me smile. So glad you're enjoying yourself. Kids are amazing, and absolutely the hardest work you'll ever do, but I've already warned you. ;) It's wonderful to hear you happy and I'm thrilled to hear OCD will be back soon, too! Enjoy your time.
That environment in the pix is amazing. A true serene of nature. Having to be with kids has been a troublous blessing, yet, I love having them around. They tend to think differently and out of the box because they no worries.
Happy travels Eric.
We need more mother like this, child really need to experience new places and new people wothout fear.

Excellent photography, but beside that, I try to make myself understand about this post. I use a translator. Well, finally I learned this discussion was very complete, starting with the children who took part in the trip and how to teach them to interact with other travelers, then the games would be directed to children and families later. The blockchain system can be connected anywhere and anytime. Hopefully all DApp will be more useful for every side of life. Have a nice trip sir @anomadsoul. God bless you.
